District 9 CANDIDATES
Kristi Kristy is a mother of three and a pediatric nurse. She currently represents District 9 on the Knox County Board of Education.
Kristy is running as a Republican.
Kristy’s priorities include improving 3rd grade literacy, recruiting and retaining good teachers, expanding vocation education, and building a supportive relationship with law enforcement to help keep students safe.
Kristy has advocated against mask mandates in schools.
Annabel Henley is a mother of five and serves as the program manager for the Women’s Health Clinic at the Knox County Health Department.
Henley is running as a Democrat.
Henley has sent fundraising messages accusing the State Legislature of banning books, bullying LGBTQ kids, silencing teachers, attacking librarians, and limiting teaching about civil rights.
Henley says the Knox County Board of Education needs to establish an equity policy.
Henley does not support charter schools.
Henley’s priorities include improved resources for teachers, a focus on academic performance, and equitable practices – including a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
